Head Coverings of the Jewish Feldrabbiner during World War I

In the past I wrote some articles about head coverings worn by religious dignitaries during their service in the army:

A new book about Jewish army rabanim was published in 2013:

Hank, Sabine; Simon, Hermann; Hank, Uwe:
Feldrabbiner in den deutschen Streitkräften des Ersten Weltkrieges
Hentrich & Hentrich Publisher, Berlin 2013, 623 pages
ISBN 978-3-938485-76-7

The book is a very large end exhaustive elaboration about Jewish rabanim during World war I.
"Feldrabbiner" translated is rabanim working on the battlefields.
"Armeerabbiner" translated is rabanim working for the army.

I can highly recommend to purchase this wonderful book for your private library.

On the front of their peaked cap two cocades and a Star of David (between these 2 cocades) were fixed.

Leopold Rosenak is wearing a Südwester hat.

Head Coverigs Worn by the "Cofradía Internacional de Investigadores del Santo Cristo de Oliva "

In January 2011 I wrote an article about

Their regulations define:

 "Uniforme y hábito:
Formado por una amplia toga, de terciopelo negro y doble golilla blanca en el cuello, del que pende un cordón carmesí y oro con la insignia propia de la Cofradía; Guantes blancos y un birrete también de terciopelo negro, con una borla de seda en su parte superior del color
representativo de la facultad a la que pertenece cada cofrade."

"... a biretta also of black velvet, with a silk tassel on the top in the colour representing the faculty to which each member belongs."

Mind the multi-colored pompons (borla):
In traditional (historic) universities of Portugal and Spain there is the tradition to mix the colors of the different graduations. For example: a doctor on Civil Law (red color) and Canon Law (green color), uses a black birrete with a red-green pompon (borla). A doctor in Theology (white) and Philosophy (blue) uses a black birrete with a white-blue pompon, etc.
The number of mixed colors depends on the number of graduations the bearer holds.

Some academic colors used in Spain and Portugal:
White: Theology, Architecture
Green: Canon Law, Veterinary
Yelow: Medecin
Red: Civil Law
Blue Sky: Philosophy, Humanities
Black: official color of Spanish rectors
Blue (dark): Natural Sciences, Mathematic

A doctor in theology and philosophy by Real and Pontificia Universidad de Mexico,
XVIII century (Spanish colonial period)

Anglo-Catholic clergy tend to make up their own dress-rules, keeping vaguely to pre-conciliar norms and adding to them when it suits them. What they refer to as the Augustinian biretta is double height (14 cm) of a normal biretta. They get this from the Norbertine picture of the friar with the very tall biretta, and have adapted it to the black biretta.

"Un bonete augustino anglicano, en la tradicion del colegio de sacerdotes de la Sagrada Casa de Walsingham, como se puede apreciar en Fr Alfred Hope Patten, en los primeros anio de 1950."

The Augustinian Biretta or "Father Alfred Hope Patten Biretta" or "CSA (Colegio San Agustín) Biretta" is much more higher (14 cm) than the Ambrosian biretta.
